| In
March the ladies of Bodmin Inner Wheel supported Bodmin Rotary at
their annual concert held in St. Petroc's Church. As in past years,
the Club provided food and refreshments for the event raising funds
for the Club's Charity account. Rotary had booked Loveney Male Voice
Choir and Bodmin Town Band for the evening and both were in excellent
form performing jointly for the final song of the evening 'Trelawney'
to a full and appreciative audience. It was a very enjoyable and
uplifting evening of music. |
|
|
| The
Club also organised another successful event on Friday 27 March
with an Easter Coffee Morning at the Methodist Chapel in Fore Street
which had a tombola stall of approximately 100 donated Easter eggs
and themed items, cakes and preserve table, knitted Easter items,
raffle, books and plants and, of course, refreshments being offered.
Although the weather was 'mizzly' there was good attendance with
all the tombola items won by 11 a.m! |

| During
the miserable moths of January and February our craft members have
once again been making items for sale at the Mt Edgcumbe Hospital
with all proceeds going towards patient care. The items shown in
the picture were delivered in February to the Hospital and were
all very well received - who could resist one of the bunnies! |

|
The
Club has also been pushing ahead with the recycling initiative and
our Membership Officer, Penny, (pictured to the left of the right
photo below) was able to deliver 57 bras to Mish bra shop in Wadebridge.
The members have been delighted to support this initiative as Mish
has a bra bank and work in partnership with 'Against Breast Cancer'
. The bras can be sold online through charity partners, exported
and sold through small overseas business which helps women earn
a living and gives the bra a second, valuable life or if the bra
is beyond use, the component parts are broken down and recycled
- nothing ends up in landfill. So, if you don't know what to do
with your old bras, pop along to Mish.
The Club has also for some years now been collecting spectacles
which are sent to Africa. Our Welfare Officer, Sandy, shown in the
photo on the left, regularly drops off the spectacles to Sanders
Opticians again in Wadebridge and the latest collection is shown
in the picture,

DELIVERY
TO UKRAINE
With the war in Ukraine now moving into its 5th year, the IW ladies
have been donating requested items over the past 4 years via our
Overseas Officer, Margaret, who gathers and packs them all together
- her house becomes the 'collection depot'. In March we dispatched
260 Easter eggs, 96 jumpers, 6 blankets, 66 hats, 9 packets of baby
milk and 2 packets of nappies - a wonderful effort from our members
which we hope will bring some cheer. |

Inner Wheel, on 19th February held a Soup and Sweet lunch, hosted
by our member Barbara Collins.
We all had a wonderful afternoon, full of fun, laughter and friendship.
All the food was provided by members, which was most delicious,
especially the puddings!
Grand total of £145.00 was raised by us.
How wonderful it is, to be part of such a wonderful group of kind,
generous people.

At
Roborough I.W. last meeting the members were treated to a talk from
Mick Harrison, Devon & Cornwall Police Cyber crimes unit. Very
informative and had members all thinking carefully about Passwords
and extra security to protect data and privacy.
The President surprised Sara, who was dumbfounded to be asked to
the front, then to know that the Club had been texting and emailing
their total support for her to be granted an Active Honoured award
for all she has done to uphold the spirit of what it is to be a
member of IW. A founder member Sara will take over the reigns next
year for our 50th Anniversary. Sara was speechless a sight members
one had never seen before. |
